NI – Mate and Kinect with Isadora

Downloaded Ni-Mate this morning and got it working with isadora within minutes. None of this terminal code or installing crazy drivers! Not that I mind that but it’s nice to have an ‘open and go’ software. For Mac and Windows.

What might excite some of you is it’s real time communication with Blender… yes Blender. Go check it out now!

Here is a quick screen grab of it working…

    • Yeah it works quite well. The ghost image that you can turn on is really handy too. You will see how to turn that on on the first tab that opens up with all the help info. Had a few problems with Midi but OSC was fine.

  2. how do you use kinect with isadora on a windows 7 pc? i have successfully installed ni-mate, but dont know how to get the info into isadora?

    • Hi,

You need to set the OSC port in NI Mate to a set number. By default it’s 7000. However in Isadora the default network port is 1234. Make sure both are the same. Then drop an OSC Listener not your isadora patch. Depending on what version of isadora you are using you should start to see data. If you have the latest version of isadora (1.3.0.24) then you need to to Stream Set up in the communications window from the menu bar and click: OSC and then Auto Detect. I am going to try and do a tutorial this weekend. Hope this helpes for now.
