Interview: Rocco DiSanti

Rocco DiSanti

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m a NYC based Freelance Projection and lighting designer.  I currently work as the Projections Director for Shen Wei Dance.

Would you class yourself as a performer, technician, director or other?

I class myself as a designer.

What projects have you been working on lately?

Metamorphosis at the Atlantic, S 16 a new opera for Pioneers go East, Monster for Pan Asian Rep.

What has been the highlight of career?

My Broadway Design Premiere in Collected Stories for Manhattan Theatre Club.

What technology do you use most often?

Isadora and After Effects then Watchout then Green Hippo.

How has the Troika Tronix Isadora software helped you with your work?

The versatility of Isadora has allowed me to work organically during the tech process.  When an idea strikes me or the director I am able make that idea a reality immediately rather than having to wait until the next day.  I can also use the software differently for each show so that the software can fit the design rather than trying to get the design to fit the software.

Describe your work/style in three words:

Creative environmental manipulation
